My niece has been out serving an LDS mission in North Carolina for the last year and almost a half. She will be returning home in some 24 days if I remember the detail correctly from my brothers commentary on her weekly letter today. It is amazing to think that she will be home in such a short amount of time. Her weekly letters have been a major part of our weekly family home evenings. I usually read her letters while the kids listen. Sometimes they have to endure an emotional moment or two as I often find myself choked up. What a wonderful gift it has been for us to partake in this correspondence and to feel the testimony and love of Sister Fontano. Jim pointed out that there will only be three more letters before she is back home. I am sad that this part of our weekly family gatherings will end.
As we read through the letters I ask the kids to share something that stood out to them. They all have something that they enjoyed or that made an impression. That has always been fun and a highlight to see what impresses them the most. Natalie has always made a comment about how she see's the tremendous growth in her testimony and in her love for the Lord. I am grateful for the example Sister Fontano has set for her cousins. I hope that those spiritual promptings inspire each of my children to do better, to be better. Thank you Mernal! You are wonderful.
