Okay, so I found earlier today that my post from last night didn't quite happen. I did it on my phone and apparently I am still having an issue with that working. Seems to be a problem with posting pictures that locks it into publishing status on the phone but never gets over the hump. Here is a quick recap less the picture.
Jack came and worked with me for a while today. We made a run to the store for a few needed items at the shop and we also picked up a pack of rubberbands so we could secure the wing on his slow stick and get it up in the air. It was after 5 when we got home and the sun was heading down fast but we managed to get over to the school for the flight. Jack got the slow stick up for his best ever flight. He gunned it, got it up in the air, gained a little altitude and got caught in a gust of wind. It carried his plane backwards and up over the school. For his first sustained flight he handled it very well. With the gust carrying the plane over the school we lost sight of it and Jack was fliying blind. We did see it go down past the peak of the roof and we were not sure if he cleared it or not. We ran to the side of the building whereupon we heard the prop going strong. We spotted the plane and discovered it had crashed into a handrail at the bottom of the stairs. The prop was fully intact and still firing away, the wing was in a bit of a mess. It wasn't too bad and we will repair it with some packing tape as the experts suggest. We'll have her back up in the air soon I'm sure. It was a great little voyage. Jack found a tremendous amount of joy over the flight. I am grateful for that.
