Last Week of School

What exactly gets accomplished on the last week of school?   I don't exactly know.  Seems like a giant party made up of a bunch of smaller parties.   Field trips, field days, class programs, whatever.  There is no homework, no library books, no tests, nothing of the sort.  I would say just let the kids out earlier but the problem would simply repeat itself with the new last week of school being pretty much pointless.  So there it is, we have the last week of school.  It serves its purpose - the winding down, the fun activities, the no homework... it's perfectly designed to make a lasting impression on the students that school is easy and fun and they should be excited to return.  Perhaps a little off the mark.  Whatever the case the last week of school is upon us and I am happy about that.
