Instructor
We had a new instructor called in Elder's Quorum today. I think his name is Nathan Barker. He must be a relatively new move in to the ward that I was unawares of as today was the first time I met him. He gave a pretty great lesson. He didn't get through a ton of material but he followed the spirit and had lots of participation. I read something earlier today as I was going through my folder that said if you want more participation in class ask more questions. Certainly Nathan had a lot of questions in his lesson plan and that worked well. He also didn't rush through material which I liked. Sometimes we get to concerned about getting through everything that we miss an opportunity to follow the promptings of the Spirit and we unintentionally discourage participation. It is okay to not get through all the material. It is far better to encourage participation, discussion, and follow the promptings of the Spirit than it is to rush through material just to say you got through it. Well, I enjoyed the lesson today, it was from a conference talk, It's Never To Early and It's Never Too Late by Bradley D. Foster. It is a great talk that teaches us the importance of teaching our children and being there for them not only when they are young but throughout their lives. I look forward to more lessons from Brother Barker and opportunities to learn and grow.
