I walked in the door a little after 11 PM and found a note taped to the wall in the entry. It reads:
We went to bed. We love you. Goodnight.
Natty, Jack, Andy.
Heart breaker for this dad. Things are a bit tough right now. I have heard stories all my life about single parents who work like crazy to take care of their families. You here about parents not being at home because they are trying to support their family. I am experiencing that right now and as the parent I can tell you it is a hard thing. It pulls at your heart strings and quite frankly, it makes me sad that I cannot be at home with my kids right now. Hopefully we are through this soon.
Today was day one of operations at the new location. It was a little buggy and there are some logistical challenges but ultimately, it was a good day. Dinner actually out performed lunch for the first time in our history and that was fantastic. That also made me stay longer than I had hoped but it is part of running a business. Sometimes you have to do the hard things. Anyhow, we are feeling pretty good about the day.
I do want to note that I went down to turn off the boys light and to say good night while they slept. When I opened their door they were both awake. It was a little treat to pull out the scriptures and read together and then pull out a fun book we have been reading and to share a few minutes with them tonight. Grateful for that little gift.
