Tinker
Sometimes I like to tinker with things. If there is something that is working the way it is supposed to I might open it up and see if I can't discover what is wrong, fix it and put it back together. Sometimes in my tinkering I find that things are damaged beyond repair or damaged beyond the scope of my ability to repair. In these cases I typically throw the thing away, assuming that it's value is not that great. Otherwise I could enlist the help of someone who has training or skills in the matter. Last night I opened up the exercise bike that I ride in the mornings. It has started making a rubbing noise that is loud and obnoxious. It started to get worse and so I decided to pop the cover off of that area of the bike. I found a wheel that was rubbing and played with it a while. Couldn't seem to get it figured out. I noticed some shavings built up on the bottom of the wheel where the rubbing had occurred. I blew out the shavings, dust and whatever else and that seems to have eliminated the rubbing noise. I haven't yet put it back together but I did test ride it this morning and it was good. I do like to tinker, especially when the results are good.
