A Good Relay
Brother Thorley, Brother Leko and I had the scouts up to the aquatic center this evening to pass off the second class and first class swimming requirements. It was a good trip up to the aquatic center and we were able to get the 4 boys who needed to be there, through the requirements. We had lap swimming, reach rescuing, pole rescuing, throw rescuing and swim rescue. Everyone did a great job. Everyone wanted to play the part of the drowning person. There were some fine acting skills being displayed and perhaps a few that could have used a little more work. Alas they are not the acting requirements but the swimming ones. We focused on that. When all the requirements were passed off I recommended a relay race. We split the boys up into two teams of 3 and we ran a race. It went well. Isn't that a requirement with scouts at the pool? There needs to be some sort of a competition or race. Fun times! This is a good group of boys. I certainly have enjoyed being able to work with them.
