A Puppy or Not a Puppy?

Christa, one of our employees at the Brick House, is trying to convince me that I need to get a puppy.  Her family just got a puppy, it is a Basset Pug mix, a Bug if you will.  My kids are all about having a dog, I am not.  Christa kindly reminds me that the lady they got their puppy from still has one left and is willing to sell it to me for $25.  I am having a hard time with the idea of buying myself one more thing to worry about.  I am spread pretty thin as it is and adding a puppy to the mix might just put me over the edge.  I know the kids would absolutely love the animal and they really want a dog but do they want it enough to feed it, bath it, clean up after it, walk it and all those other things you have to do with a dog?  I must be like the Bruce Willis character in the movie The Kid.  A real loser of a man; not married and no dog!  In my defense I have been married and I was replaced by a dog, a big black lab, the most terrifying dog of my childhood.  I survived.  Anyway, the Bug.  Two of my favorite dogs.  Basset's, just love them and a Pug is a dog primarily bred for its entertainment value.  It is a tough call here folks.  Since the $25 price tag was thrown at me I have been having some thoughts but I truly don't know that I can handle even one more thing in my life right now and that, that people, would not be fair to the dog.  Oh, and I guess it is supposed to be some sort of an inside dog.  I don't do inside dogs.  I am one heck of an animal scrooge!
