The Campout
The kids have been looking forward to going on a campout all week. I have promised them that it would be okay for Friday night. Here is the great part. I did not have to load up the car or do any other prep work for that matter. They were so excited to go and I have them so well trained that they took care of all the preparations. Yes it takes a brave man to put this much faith in his children. You have to be certain, especially in winter camping. Faith in my children I do have and therefore I left all the finer details up to them. I did put the stop on Jack taking the mattress off his bed. Sleeping on the ground makes him itchy he says. Well, we compromised. I told him no mattress but he could sleep on a cot. He was excited about that. They had a little challenge picking the campsite. At first they were thinking of one of the lower elevation sites but then decided on a higher elevation. All is well. Everyone is actually tucked in and sleeping. Ahhh, so nice. We are at a fine campground in Cedar City. It is a well cared for place at about 534 South and 450 West. The site has heated bathrooms and everything. If tonight goes well I may even let them campout a second night as well. Wow, so nice to have the kids excited about camping out in the living room. I get to sleep in the comfort of my own bed and they enjoy the thrill of sleeping somewhere other than theirs.
