Lasers and Laughs

Back when Natty was first born we lived in the Laurelwood Ward in the Las Vegas South Stake. I home taught Mark and Sharon Fiscus and their kids Taryn, Corey, Adam and Billy. They are one of my favorite families of all time. They had a little Pug and Mark had him well trained. He told me one time that they say the only thing a Pug is good for is entertainment. Dang, I am having a moment when his name is in my head but it just isn't coming to me... nope it just did, Rudy. Well, Mark would do things like take a treat and set it on his nose and Rudy would not move until instructed to do so. I know that doesn't sound very impressive but have you seen a Pugs nose? Yeah. He would also tuck a treat in the side of his mouth and then let him sit there with it forever (especially in dog years)before he would give Rudy the okay to proceed with it. Well, his favorite thing was to take out his laser pen and tease Rudy with it. Rudy would run all over chasing that red dot. It was a rather humorous activity though I am sure there are those out there that are appalled by such cruelty. Rest assured Rudy always got a treat afterwards and it didn't go on for more then a couple of minutes.

I thought about Mark and Rudy tonight when we were gathered in the living room for family scripture time. Jack and Andy both had their little flashlight/laser pointer combos and were having a ball with them. There was no little Pug to chase them around but they didn't seem to mind. They just chased each others light around the ceiling and laughed hysterically. Sometimes it is the silliest little things that go so far. I love that they had such a good time with the laser pointers.

There is another funny Jack thing that I forgot to mention yesterday. We were in the living room getting ready for FHE and Jack says "Do you want to hear me play Jaws on the piano"? Well who wouldn't. So Jack walks up and nails it with the last two keys. Dah nuh..., Dah nuh... Dan nuh...Dah nun... It was actually very well done. Never had one lesson. I thought it was pretty funny and note worthy.

In other news of the day I have been feeling a bit ill. A few days ago I had Andy throwing up all night long. Oh, that was fun. Just 4 times in the bed with me with a cough chaser after one episode that sprayed puke in my face and mouth. I just threw up thinking about it. Anyway, he was chipper as could be by morning and no one else got sick so I really haven't thought much about it until today. I am hoping I am just tired. 5 hours of sleep every night is tough. I think I am going to take tonight off of running and just try to get a little extra sleep. One exciting thing to report on the running, I clipped my goal of 5K per day in February. Total miles were 101.2 which averaged out to 3.6 miles per day. I didn't actually run everyday but had a few big days in there and then some of my standard 5 mile days as well. Last month was also the 1/2 marathon so it was a good month for running. I am trying to get ready for the 10K in April with Amy. I want to finish is less than an hour but Amy said the course in St. George ends on an uphill. That may send me to my grave. We'll see though.
