Whose the Wimpy Kid?

So this week I started reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid to Jack and Andy. Natty has read all of them multiple times and she loves them. This is the first time for me and the boys. Jack didn't want to read it at first but now it is his favorite. We had read a few other chapter books that were simply "Adventures of Frog and Toad" type stuff. The boys loved that and I was looking for something else like it when I saw Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I decided to give it a shot and though Jack was anti he quickly got on board and loves it. Andy is also sitting with us and he quite likes it as well. It is nice that there are a few on the shelf that we will get to read through. It has been a fun book to read and I find myself laughing on a regular basis and when I laugh Jack laughs and then Andy gets involved as well.

I must declare that I have an issue with the title - Diary of a Wimpy Kid... what is up with that? If you keep a diary or journal or blog does that qualify you as a Wimpy Kid? I guess if it does then I will wear that label with pride. I do have to say I wish I did a better job of writing when I was a teenager. I think it would have been a lot of fun to look back on those times and remember much of the simple stuff. I loved Grandpa Als life story because he walked us down a his childhood and pointed to some things he loved the most as a kid. There were a number of things that I connected with when I read it and it was very cool. Hopefully I am capturing some of that here with Natty, Jack and Andy. Hopefully they will look back and reflect on some of these daily entries and remember fun things - like the time we sat together and read Diary of a Wimpy Kid...

During dinner tonight Natty asked me why I was eating salad instead of nachos. I explained that I was just trying to eat healthier. I jokingly mentioned that according to one of my children I was plump (yes, thank you Jack). Anyway, the conversation went on for a bit and then Natty declared that she was chubby. I said to her that I wouldn't call her chubby but that she does have a little lovin on her. It was confusing to her... what is lovin? I tried to explain it and then Jack chimed in declaring "I'm lovin chubbies". Well typing it out does no justice for the moment but it provided us with a good laugh. The way that rolled of his tongue and the expression on his face - it was great.

Andy had a major break through on Mario Kart today. I was helping him with one of the cups and we ended up winning it. The result was that it unlocked the Mii drivers. Now he could be his Andyboy character behind the wheel. He was so excited he could hardly contain it. We walked out to go to school and our neighbor Ken pulled up. Andy started to run over to tell him all about it. I had to stop him so we could get on the road so he said he would tell him all about it tomorrow. Natty and Jack came with me to pick him up from school and he told them all about it. I thought it would just be his Mii character that was unlocked but it turns out it was all of the Mii characters that they have developed. So Jack and Natty were both able to play theirs as well. Natty is not happy with hers as she makes girl noises... um, she is a girl.

I have been completely exhausted for the last few days. Just dragging and struggling to stay awake. I have had a two minute nap in the middle of this post already. It is an early post for me tonight as this is prior to the kids going down to bed. Should be able to get to bed early tonight - after running of course. That will be fantastic.

Well, some wimps diary is calling to us so we gotta go. Cheers!
