So last night I was writing about this genius campout and the kids being all excited about it. Everything started off great. I went into the kitchen to type the post, the kids fell asleep in the designated camping area or living room. Ahhh, everything was great. I went and worked out after posting and then ended up painting furniture. Oh, that is a bit odd I know but when it is 1:30 AM and you have energy to burn you might as well paint something. I walked inside the house at 2:35 AM and by 3 I was ready to lay down and sleep. I did so. At 3:45 AM Natalie came and woke me up. "Jack just threw up" she said. Awesome. He was in a sleeping bag on a cot. I went in and found him sitting there in just a mess of puke. I love that. He had it all over himself, the sleeping bag, the cot and some spray all over the floor as well. I got Jack squared away and then went to work on the rest of the mess. Actually I just got everything out of the house and on the back patio. Then I cleaned the living room floor. Natty bailed on the living room and finished her campout in her own bed. Jack was relocated to his room and eventually Andy woke up and came over to sit by me while I was cleaning the floor. He ended up in my bed. With this kind of record I don't know that we will want to brave the real outdoors. A night like last night could be a real bad deal out of doors. They are once again camping in the living room. Instead of a cot and sleeping bag Jack is armed with a towel and a bowl. He has continued to be pukey all day and I am hoping he gets through it real soon. Really hoping they make it tonight with out any problems.
We enjoyed Padre and the Cedar Sibs tonight. This was a dinner date with the old man, Jay, Dave, Amy and myself. We went to Wingers, got the movie deal and then went to see the new Liam Neeson movie Unknown. That was fairly intense and quite good. Special thanks to mom for watching the kids especially with a sick one. I always appreciate the help and the opportunity to go and have a night out with adults. Sometimes that is just enough to recharge my batteries and continue on. Padre and the Cedar Sibs is a title I came up with tonight. We have done this particular outing once before. Both times it was dubbed boys night out but that just doesn't work when Amy is there with us. She came the last time too and since this is the trend we needed a proper name. Don't mean to exclude any of the other siblings - Jim, Pete, Mike and Laura. Hey, I know what it is like to live away from family and to read up on the different activities that go on. Being in Florida we missed quite a few things. Know that you are thought of and missed. Mike you would be happy to know that Dave went through the theater after the movie in search of a popcorn bowl. Unlike you however, he was not dining on the left over popcorn. No he planned on getting the free popcorn refill. I do believe I made him feel guilty about doing it so he ultimately decided to pass. It was a fun time.
It is now Sunday afternoon. I just read the post and had to make a couple of edits and since I was on I figured I could share a couple of other thoughts on the day. I was typing in bed last night as the kids were camping out and once I was asleep I simply ended the post. Actually it was not immediate. When I woke up at 1 I finished a couple of thoughts. When I woke up at 1:30 I spell checked, published and went to bed. I simply gave up on adding anything else.
As was noted there was a dirty cot, sleeping bag, pillow and other items that needed some attention. I hosed down the cot and the sleeping bag in the front. The pillow along with towels and pj's went in the washer. This is one of those things I am getting better at. I only dry heaved once that I can remember and it was very mild. You just have to learn to embrace it. Actually I was in a pretty good mood because I put some shorts on to do the cleaning. These were shorts that I could barely squeeze into back in June. I actually never wore them and frankly am suprised I hadn't donated them. I put them on and they still did not fit... but in the entirely opposite department. That is actually perfect. I like to have loose fitting shorts. It makes for good times working in the yard. If you time a weed pull just right you can carpentar crack an unsuspecting passer by. I like to give people something to talk about on occassion. I remember driving from Vegas to Salt Lake once (not the time I made Pete hold it the entire time)and there was a car passing me. I threw my finger in my nose and started digging hard just for fun. After they passed I watched and sure enough the gal in the passenger seat started talking to the guy behing the wheel. He made a point of looking and found me looking right back with a hang loose, wink and a smile. He knew what was up. I had a good laugh. Anyhow, the shorts were good news. Makes all my late night elliptical running meets meaningful.
I had an opportunity to fullfill a church cleaning assignment yesterday afternoon. I went and moved chairs while Andy Bishop vacuumed the rooms. There was nothing amazingly spiritual about the event. We simply went forth and performed our duty. Sometimes all we get when we serve is the satisfaction of knowing that we went and did what we were asked to do. In that act of service we can feel good. It was one hour of my day and I was happy to give it to the Lord. I must say that I am very grateful for Natty Sue. She is a great help at home when I need to run out to fullfil an assignment and I very much appreciate that.
