I was wondering what to do for dinner tonight between soccer pics and back to school night at the middle school. French Toast - I have a fairly good recipe and it is usually a winner amongst the kids. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the butter soaked powdered sugar on top. Anyhow, I did the usual and had it all out ready to go - well almost the usual. I decided to go with a Cranberry Orange bread that we sell at the cafe`. It was too old to sell a week or so ago and I have had it in my fridge since then. It was feeling a bit stiff but it soaked up the egg mixture very well. So anyway, everything was looking good and I got the kids gathered round for dinner. They were not so thrilled when they discovered cranberries in the toast. Natty thought they were nasty and after a few bites was done with them. Andy noticed the cranberry right away, called it an apple and was quite skeptical. He didn't make it through much of his. Jack, he did a little Jack yell and cry, ate some and then dissappeared from the table. So, Cranberry Orange bread in French Toast, not a big winner. I sampled a bit and though it was interesting it had no staying power with me. I tried to regroup with some frozen white that I had and it turned out well. Perhaps I will pass on the Cranberry Orange bread in the future as none of my kids liked it. Now I do want to try French Toast with the Cinnamon Burst bread and think that will go over well. Someday perhaps.
