Not My Favorite President

I don't do a lot of political commentary on my blog.  It's just not something I chose to record.  Tonight however I am going to say a few things about President Obama that may upset a few people.  I found that Jack and I have a lot in common when it comes to politics.  Now, realize that Jack just turned 8 years old.  Also note that I don't spend a lot of time talking about politics in our home so my kids have been fairly sheltered that way.  Deep political discussions with a 12 year old, 8 year old and 5 year old just don't seem all that interesting.  Simple chats based on conservative principles, yes.  The 12th article of faith, you bet.  Anything dealing with a birth certificate, the latest Joe Biden gaff or anything that falls into the realm of the DPV or Deep Political Vortex we steer clear of.

With that as the backdrop enter scene:  Jack and I are putting away a lot of his work from this year.  Natty had looked through his portfolio and they ended up getting it spread throughout the office.  As we were going through his papers we took a look at his Physical Fitness Award.  I am holding it in my hand and:

Me: Oh, your Physical Fitness Award and it's signed by..

Jack: Barack Obama, these are his initials.  He is not my favorite President.

Me: Why?

Jack:  Because he ruined the lunches.
  • 1st he put fake goo on the Macaroni and Cheese.
  • 2nd he put jelly on the top and bottom of the sandwiches.
  • 3rd he put something gooey on the bottom of the brownies but it doesn't make me stop eating the brownies.
I just like the good Presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Me:  Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Jack:  No.

I have to admit, this lunch thing is new to me.  I was unaware that President Obama had taken such measures with school lunch. My feelings however, echo that of Jacks.  He is not my favorite President.
