Two and a half years was apparently long enough for me to forget just how much I dislike removing carpet. I guess I should say commercial carpet that is glued down. The standard residential stuff is not bad at all by comparison. Anyway, I spent the day removing carpet from the new location. Pretty much 11 hours of ripping up carpet. The good news is that it is up for the most part. There is a small section in the bar area. Do I call that a bar or a counter? I don't know. Anyway, I am about dead. Seriously. My finger tips feel like they are ready to fall off. The nails feel like they are going to pull right off. My shoulder is in serious pain along with my back and it isn't even the next morning yet. Since there is good news there is also bad news. There is a layer of padding under the carpet. It is glued to the wood and the carpet was glued to it. I would say 70% of that stuff stayed down. It is not coming up easy and really, I need it to. We need to be done with floor so we can redo walls, scrape and texture ceiling, paint and then install the new floor. Well, tomorrow is Sunday and I am looking forward to having a day to recover... or so I hope. Monday I need to go in strong. Tomorrow I am bound to be dead. Death by carpet... who knew?
Grateful to have the help of Jay, Tara and Jayson tonight. It was much needed and much appreciated.
