Memories
We were in the middle of our scripture reading this evening. Jack was reading, actually the exact verse was Ether 3:13. He starts to giggle part way through the verse, continues reading with an occasional chuckle and when he gets through the verse he laughs and says to me that he just remembered the story of my buddy who licked his hand thinking it was sauce from his sandwich but really it was something from changing his babies diaper. He breaks out in major laughter and I am sitting there like, what the heck? I can't recall the last time I shared that story, it had to be years ago but here is Jack recalling this memory in the middle of reading scriptures. I had to correct him a bit, it wasn't my buddy it was his uncle Jim's buddy and I believe the story goes that his friend was making a sandwich, had to change his baby's diaper, saw what appeared to be brown mustard on his hand, licked it off and discovered it wasn't brown mustard at all. I'm laughing because I think the entire situation is funny as to why this memory pops up in Ether 3:13, Jack is dying of laughter because of the story, Natty was laughing because she knows it's been over 3 years since we've talked about that story, Andy is laughing but he isn't sure why because he doesn't know the story. Anyway, good times. I almost wrote the story in the margins of my scriptures just to recall the moment. Maybe I should. Random thoughts and memories in the middle of scripture time, makes for an entertaining read. I'm still grossed out by the hand lick though. With as many diapers as I've changed over the years - you never lick your hand I don't care what you think it might be, so nasty.
