Getting Sorted

Those who read yesterdays post may have noticed a new look for me. Rest assured that the hawk is gone, surprisingly to the disappointment of Natty and Jack. I think that Andy was quite relieved to have John back as was I. That reflection thing was throwing me off. The hawk was completely out of character for me and now that my hair is all sorted out I am feeling a little more comfortable with my reflection.

Andy and I had a fun morning. We spent a bit of time finding and sorting different items in the home. I started him out with some animals. You can see by the picture that this did not take long. I didn't want to drag out all of the Hot Wheels so I went for the food. Fruit Loops or whatever the cheap brand version of fruit loops is anyway. That actually went pretty well and Andy was getting more excited about sorting. We moved to Berry Crunch (the Wal Mart version of Capn' Crunch Berries, we spare no expense here)and he did better with these. He wanted to keep going so I grabbed a bag of fruit snacks. He thought they were for eating so we clarified and he did great. Finally I dumped a pile of rainbow colored Gold Fish on the table and he sorted those. He really wanted to eat the fruit snacks but knew the rule was that he would have to finish sorting first, wait for a picture of his fine work and then he could have the fruit snacks. He exercised great control. I left the room during the fish sorting and came back expecting to find the fruit snacks missing. Nope, he did good. In this picture there are a few fruit snacks missing as we had taken another picture first and he asked if he could eat them. We will sort again I am sure. It was a good activity and he quite enjoyed himself. We left the piles on the table to show Jack and Natty. Jack was excited about it and we may involve him on the next round. Anyhow, like the double thumbs up by Andy.

Back on New Years Eve we were out sledding and before I hurt myself I had taken a couple of pics. As I did not previously have pictures of Natty out sledding I thought I should get one of her up on the blog. Here she is at the bottom of the hill pondering the meaning of life and that green thing she is sitting on is the very sled that was used in "the crash" starring, um, me. I think it unwise of me to try standing up on those in the future. I will stick with sitting or simply filming. Natty was having a great time out there with a crew of kids she got together for long chains down the hill. I think with a little encouragement she could follow in the Presidents footsteps of community organizing. She is a good girl.

I think at some point in the past I mentioned building a table. I have built it. I have not finished it yet though I need to. Here is a quick shot after it was assembled and before it was sanded down. The design is simple and based on an antique coffee table we sold at the Little Brick House. I plan to start building the coffee tables and wanted to test one. I needed something to put the new TV on anyway so I built this. I think this is all repetitive. Sorry if you have heard all this before. Anyhow, I am happy with it. It was made out of cedar fencing that I sanded down. I need something a little nicer for the bigger tables that I would sell and need nicer looking, sturdier legs. Anyway, it was a fun little project. I will post the finished product when I get it done.

I have some projects that need completing here at the house. Christmas is still up and needs to get put away. I feel like I can't keep anything clean at the moment - probably associated to the Christmas stuff still being out but also because the kids keep pulling out the new toys and leaving stuff everywhere. I had some people over yesterday that were talking to me about a business opportunity and wanted me to commit to one night a week. First I am not sold on their product and second I seriously don't know how I would do it. I feel overwhelmed as it is just trying to keep up with everything now. Joyfully overwhelmed mind you.

There are a ton of video hosting sites on the web. With the marketing company we needed to establish accounts on several video hosting sites and I was amazed by how many there are. Today I set up 17 accounts and we are not done yet. One of them appeared to be South African based - Zoopy if I am remembering correctly. Most of the submissions had the RSA flag next to the contributor and there were a few posts from Cape Town and areas that I had been. I am going to spend a little time on that one when I have a chance just to see what is there. I pretty much love all things South Africa and am even the proud owner of a South African flag courtesy of Mike and Liana for Christmas. I will have to do a little research to find out when I should be flying said flag. Anyhow, there was another site that was rather fun. Having just established the account I was going through some of our account information and it ran me through the ringer. You've not submitted anything for this... You've not downloaded anything for that... You haven't set up this... You smell funny... Welcome. We will be submitting things soon enough and I am sure they will take back the comment about smelling funny when we do.

In roughly 8 hours I will be negotiating with Jack once again. Every morning we pretty much hit the same routine and it is amazing to me the new arguments he throws my way. If I come to him in my best self and am positive and up beat we can typically get everything sorted out pretty well. That usually involves a bit of silliness and some laughing. We did manage to grow out of his need for showering every morning and night so that is good. Now it is trying to convince him that he does not need to wear his snow pants to school. There is snow on the ground so it is absolutely necessary in his mind. I ask him how many other kids wear their snow pants... only me. He is so happy in those things. I simply let him go. Tomorrow will be a bit of a challenge as he had a little accident in them and they are in the wash. Actually I need to put them in the dryer but I may not let him know that they are available and we will see if we can't get him to stretch a little.

Good kids, good times, good fun, good night.
