FontDo!

It is a sad thing that I have never introduced my kids to fondue.  It is only one of my favorite all time meals.  I think we held off because of the potential hazards involved in the boiling hot lava you cook everything in.  I came home with a few left overs after last nights Elders Quorum Fondue party that we hosted at the Little Brick House.  I was just going to combine it all in the crock pot and make a stew but then came to my senses.  The kids most likely wouldn't touch a stew and they would probably love everything about fondue.  I had broth (we switched from oil to broth and I like it), steak, chicken, mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, onion, bread and cheese so I put it all together and we gathered round the pots.  They all loved it.  It was a great time doing a little FontDo with the kids.  Andy requested that we do it again tomorrow, Jack was a bit more reserved suggesting we make it a monthly thing.  Our tradition has always kind of been an annual thing but I am not opposed to doing it a little more often then that.  I went into it not knowing what to expect and came out of it excited that the kids all ate veggies and meat, they had fun, and we had good conversations.  The good conversations are part of what makes fondue great so why not have that time with the kids?  I did stay busy the entire time because I would rather not have Jack and Andy handling raw chicken,  Natty would have probably been fine and maybe I just worry too much but I handled all of the chicken.  That turned out to be their favorite thing so I was constantly working chicken.  I can remember fondue parties from my childhood and how much I loved them.  I know that Natty, Jack and Andy will remember their first fondue experience and it will be a good memory.  I am excited that they enjoyed it and are anxious to do it again.  Any excuse is a good excuse for a little FontDo!

  1. DANG!!! I forgot about the Elder's Quorum party! :( I guess that's what happens when you're either with the young men or chasing around a one year old in church.
