It wasn't too long ago that Jack refused to offer prayers or did everything he could not to say the prayer even his personal prayers. I would hold his hands and offer his prayer for him. I know that I have shared this previously and how I was so relieved when finally Jack began to offer his own prayers. That was such a struggle. Funny enough Andy would follow Jacks lead and would not say his prayers either. So anyway, I still hold his hands in mine while he offers his prayers as I likewise do with Andy. Recently Jack became very focused on using proper verbiage while saying a prayer. He focused on how he addresses Heavenly Father, he is giving more thought to the things that he says in his prayers and then he is very clear on closing in the name of Jesus Christ.
It is an amazing thing to watch your children develop and grow. It is also wonderful to see a younger brother pick up on the righteous example of his older brother and follow it. I am so grateful. There were definitely times when I was saying both the boys prayers for them everyday that I had to keep going by pure faith. I didn't know if it was ever going to happen and when it did, well, I was filled with joy.
Now watching Jack and seeing him develop more fully is an amazing thing. Tonight he surprised me again when he decided it was time to kneel down properly and to fold his arms. I know that these are simple things to be excited about but alas, I am excited to see growth.
