Oh Sweet Mercy

I am straining my brain trying to remember a moment that I had with Jack this morning that made me laugh and I thought that it would be perfect for the blog.  I thought I should write it down to help me remember and should have acted on that prompting.  Alas I did not and now the only thing I can remember is that Jack blurted out "oh sweet mercy".  It caught me completely off guard as I have never heard him use that expression before.  I was laughing.

Oh sweet mercy.  It is an appropriate phrase for today.  The first thing Jack told me when he came in to the office this morning and told me that he couldn't got to school today because he had thrown up during the night.  Well, with Jack he considers hacking up a little flem as puking so I was a little leery of just how sick he might have been during the night.  After I finished running we went down to check it out.  I asked Jack if it was just a little spit but he assured me it was full of throw up.  I asked why he didn't come up and get me.  His reply is a sweet mercy in my life.  He said "I got it in the bowl (he sleeps with a bowl just in case) and didn't feel like going down the ladder so I just went back to bed".  That right there is a sweet mercy.  I have cleaned a fair share of puke out of floors, off of beds, off of couches etc so hearing that he managed to get whatever it was in the bowl, yep, sweet mercy.

Jack wasn't kidding.  That thing was filled with some serious puke.  The bed was clean.  That was fantastic.  I appreciate very much that he had the composure at some point during the night to use the bowl.  I also appreciate that he realized that he was perfectly okay and that he went back to bed.  It is a little weird that Jack likes to sleep at the ready with a bowl but I will take that any day over cleaning up a bunk bed covered in puke.  That isn't fun at all.
