The Train Table

When I got home from work tonight a very excited Jack came running up to the truck.  He does this on occasion and sometimes I am focused on talk show commentary and not paying attention to what is happening and then one of the boys jumps up and bangs on the window of the truck.  At that point I nearly wet my pants and we have a good laugh.

So today Jack was very excited.  He had a field trip today and I thought that was the source of the excitement.  Well, it was part of it but probably a very small part.  We had to stop everything and head to the garage so I could see the big surprise.  Off we went and Jack proudly showed me the new train table.  Sister Dunford talked to me after church on Sunday about this old train table they had that they were either going to take to the dumps or to DI.  She wanted to know if we would be interested.  Her thinking of us may have had something to do with Jack's train testimonies, I don't know but I told her the boys would love it.  Well, they apparently dropped off said table to our house this afternoon.

Know this, when a train table is dropped off at the house of an 8 year old train enthusiast there is no rest for the weary.  No sir.  There was no time for me to settle down or do anything else when I got home because that track needed to be cleaned.  Thank you shop vac.  We cleaned that table and, phew, time to sit down for a minute.  Oh no, there is a control module that needs to be connected.  Well, we got it running and pretty soon I had both boys sitting and staring at it.  They absolutely love it.  Here are a couple of pics at the boys sitting at the The Train Table.  This is actually sitting on top of a futon which is sitting on top of my big dining room table that I am refinishing.

Much thanks Brother and Sister Dunford.  These boys are in heaven.
