Did I write about this previously? I don't remember. I had a thought a while back that we should become the place for pie in Cedar City. There really isn't a place for pic in Cedar currently. I mean, there is a place that serves pie but it is just a pie they pick up from the supplier and serve. We looked in to those pies and then we decided we would make our own. We do that with all accept a Razzleberry pie that we bake. We enhance the crust a bit but that is all though we may start making our own fruit pies as well. We will see.
We are getting ready to hit the holiday season and we want to be established as the place to get your pies. We did a bit of it last year and I hope we can hit it on a larger scale this year. I love making them and am trying to develop our own recipes. The Hazelcream pie is a hit. Made that for the first time about a month ago and it is quite popular. Peanut Butter pie is great too as well as the Lemon Cream and Chocolate Satin. I was walking through the store the other day and saw a Holiday Peppermint Pie for sale. Available for a limited time. I decided I could make that myself. Today I did and it appears to have worked out. We also knocked out a Key Lime Pie tonight. Hope that goes over well. I made a Pumpkin Cream last week to test and need to make it again as I believe it is a keeper - at least for the season. The other day I made pecan butter so that I can make an attempt at a Pecan Cream Pie. I think it could be quite good and hopefully have a chance to test that recipe out tomorrow. I also want to start displaying pie for sale in our front cabinet and see if we can't start moving a few more whole pies. It is fun stuff for sure.
I am not exactly sure how we become the pie guys in Cedar. We'll start with social media as well as displaying pies in our store. Perhaps getting some samples out on the street can help. Lots of work to do. Thanksgiving is approaching.
