Okay, this is my second blog tonight. The first one I titled dedicated because I typed the entire thing on my blackberry. When you have thumbs as short and stubby as mine that requires some serious dedication. The kids were skyping with their mom so I went to my room and knocked out a blog. Now learn from my mistake so this does not happen to you. When you type a blog on your blackberry just accept it for what it is and don't try to run spell check. As I hit the spell check icon my entire post disappeared. Might as well give myself a paper cut and poor lemon juice all over it, repeatedly. I was doing so good with my time tonight and after a full day I thought I would do okay. Sometimes that is life and there just isn't anything we can do about it accept laugh and start again. The tears I shed were obviously because I was laughing really hard. So now, the second time aroung, I am truly dedicated.
I know we are a couple of days in and I did not issue this challenge to anyone other then mentioning it to Amy but I am throwing out a 5K per day challenge in the month of December. Sundays are excluded. Any takers? Personally I am pushing for 5 miles per day though my first day of the month went a little longer then that. I was watching what I thought was the second half of the movie The Island. I didn't look at how long it was just assumed it would run and hour and 45 or so. I had put in 45 minutes with it the day before so figured about an hour for last night. 85 minutes late the movie finally ended. I managed somewhere between 9.2 and 9.5 miles. I didn't think the movie was ever going to end. It was good to run, I was feeling it at the end and have been a little tired in the legs today. Anyway doing this has inspired me to shoot for a half marathon. I was only a few miles shy of it. So there is my goal for the month, hit a half marathon before the end of the year. If all else fails this single guy will have something to do on New Years Eve, at least for a couple hours anyway.
Earlier this evening I started work on a frame. I have never built a frame and have always wanted to so I went about it. I ripped a piece of cedar fencing then cut it all out to size. It goes together pretty well. We got a router yesterday for the LBH and it will be fun to learn how to use it as well. I need to pick up a bit for routing picture frames. Building boxes and shelves and refinishing furniture and other things has been enjoyable. I do have a request for a shelf from Sara that I need to get started on. I also saw that I have Dave and Dani for Christmas this year. Well guys, you may be getting a john allphin original for the holidays. For the rest of you, I am taking orders right now and I am having a special on proton charging this month so it will only cost you five thousand big ones - Sara, I'll take a deposit for half now and the balance upon completion if that works for you.
So I will close this second post with one final thought. A poem.
If a task is once begun
Never leave it til it's done
Be the labor great or small
Do it well or not at all
