Life seems to get in the way of the important things sometimes. We get caught up in career and other activities that time with family can be hard to come by. Don't get me wrong, career and providing for our families is a very important part of life. We have to work and labor for our support. In this thing called life we learn to appreciate the special days, the rare occasions when the family gathers and nearly all are accounted for. Today was such a day for the Fontano family. With the exception of Natty and Andy who are currently in Alaska we had all or our family together. By our family I mean my parents and their 8 children and nearly all of their grandchildren. It was truly a special day to be appreciated. We were also able to witness and some participate in the temple sealing of our mother to her parents. That was wonderful. We also went on to do temple sealings for several family names that Jim had prepared and ready to go. It was really a good visit to the temple.
We also had a little family luau at the New Harmony church building. It was quite good. Played some bunco-ish game that was a little different. It was a good game though I didn't fare so well. We enjoyed our foods and then somehow came up with a game of shooting little Hawaiian drink umbrellas into an open bottle of water. It pretty much kicks the old game of napkin basket ball. So much more challenging.
Mom turns 65 next week so part of this gathering was a surprise birthday party for her. Several friends were able to stop in and say hi. We had a great time.
I am truly grateful for the special days when special things happen with wonderful people.
