The Dash
Jack and I were out on a walk/ride tonight. He wanted to ride his new bike and I was the one walking. We went up to the high school track and I told him before I left that my legs were tired and I wouldn't be running tonight. He said it was okay and that we could just do one lap. As we got to the track Jack rode on ahead and then stopped. I asked if he wanted to have a 100 Yard dash with him riding his bike while I sprinted it. He agreed. As we began the race I had a pretty easy lead on him but then he got some momentum going and by the time we were two thirds the way done he had passed me easily and left me in his dust. He was quick. I continued walking around the track and we talked about his great race and then I asked if he wanted to go again down the back stretch. He agreed. We lined up as before and this time I took off and gave it everything I had. I was moving down the track. There was no way he was going to catch me on this 100 yard dash. It was a good race and it made the exercising that much more enjoyable to throw a little competition in it. Perhaps we will dash again in the future. I have to keep my speed up that's for sure. He did tell me that if we were going 150 yards there is no way I would have beat him. I think he is right on that.
