3.4 Seconds

Tuesday September 6, 2011

Dave has been challenging himself to see how fast he could eat a hot dog.  There are two types of dogs that we carry at the Little Brick House.  The first is the big one, a caspers dog – footlong hot dogs that are fantastic.  The second is a standard Hoffy dog or Bar S brand for kids.
Tonight Dave was rather proud of himself because he pounded a Caspers a full second faster than his previous record.  Fairly impressive.  There was one dog left and so I decided I would have a go at it.  I figured it would take me longer than Dave so I wasn’t  feeling all that competitive.  Strike, I am pretty competitive, just not confident that I would be competitive in this particular event.   So his ultimate score was  6.3 seconds and it seemed like he flew through it.  I was quite amazed and decided I would give it a shot.
With the dog in hand I broke it in half to cool it down.  After a few delays, for effect, I went – bite swallow, bite swallow, done.  Amy was the time keeper.  3.4 seconds.  Dave’s face just kind of dropped in disbelief and I could only laugh in pure amusement.   Oh man it was funny.  He was talking about posting his time online and all kinds of stuff and then I trashed it without even expecting to be close.   We all three had a good laugh in the end.
Now Dave and I are talking about a few little challenges.   Some water chug, combined with the hot dog, I ‘m thinking root beer chug.  It could be a relay and we would have to run to the different stations.  Oh goodness, feed the dream.
Well, must sleep,  Feeling quite tired.
