Little Helpers

So Jack heard what I said yesterday about getting the house clean because of family coming to town. First thing this morning he was filling up the kitchen sink so he could mop the floor. I don't know how appreciative the wood floors would be of Jack mopping them without supervision so I got started on cleaning early. Jack was not going to let up. We postponed the mopping until after we cleaned the rest of the kitchen. Andy was also on the job and was excited to use the spray bottle. The contents of the bottle don't really matter at this point, he just wants to spray it. I believe that is his favorite thing to do. Shadow cleaning is important to the longevity of any cleaning solution.

Let me note that Jack's enthusiasm for helping me to clean rubbed off not only on Andy but also on Natty who decided she could participate as well. I like that. She even volunteered to do bathrooms and kind of recruited Andy to help out. Fantastic.

As I was putting some finishing touches on the kitchen floor Jack suddenly popped up with a change of clothes. It included his soccer shorts and socks from last year. He proudly announced that it was time to wash the truck. This wasn't necessarily on my list of things to do but Jack was determined that it needed to happen. We discussed that maybe the socks weren't the best outfit choice for washing the vehicle but Jack wasn't having any of that. He was set and ready to go and those socks were staying on. Very well. We washed the truck.

There was still more to do inside and we managed to work through it. Everyone did a great job and I was able to get most of the house put together. There were a few pictures and other things that I hadn't hung up yet and some furniture in the office/study/workout/library/whatever you want to call it room that needed to be moved. I believe that the house is finally done. I've still got some work to do in the garage but that is for another day.

It is nice to have little helpers.
