Grease

You know Olivia Newton John is one hot babe. Well, truthfully, I never saw Grease but I did see Xanadu and wow, to young 5 year old boy she was something amazing. I was on a Xanadu kick a few years back - didn't watch the movie but I did pick up the CD or maybe Laura gave it to me as a gift. Not sure now. Regardless, it is in my CD collection. Crap, I write a blog and I have a CD collection still, wow, I am old school. I should simply maintain my life history on FaceBook and Twitter and chill with my music collection on my IPod. I am sooo lame. I am certainly on FaceBook but I probably don't use it the hip way. I am too private I guess, I like to send emails and keep my communication private. I do make comments and update my status occassionally so you know, I'm hip, I'm cool. I was certainly one of the slowest ones in the fam to take that leap and held on to the idea that the Fontano Family Blog was a much better way of keeping up with all in the fam. I do miss the wonderful posts shared on that blog and the good times we had there.

Right, so here I am in a tell all about my crush on Olivia Newton John when I was 5, forgot to mention that I "borrowed" a little money from the folks, walked down to KMart in Carson City and bought the Xanadu Soundtrack when I was, that's right, 5. Yeah, the parents were a tad confused at how that happened. I wonder what was going on in the cashier's head when I came through the line? Fun.

Well, this post has absolutely nothing to do with sweet Olivia or the movie Grease. It certainly has nothing to do with Xanadu except for my little rant that you apparently just read through. No, the Grease referred to in this post has everything to do with what was left on the walls of a building that served as a bakery for many years in Cedar City. Let me just say that it is seriously nasty. I kind of found that everything in the building that I have touched had some layer of grease on it but I had no idea how nasty the walls actually were.

I woke up this morning without nausea - how sweet is that? I can't tell you how happy I have been today because of that. Anyway, I went on a mission to degrease the place and let me tell you, this is not a small job. I'm about ready to bring in my pressure washer and my wet/dry vac and just go to town. Since the walls were not bad enough I cleaned a little patch of the ceiling and now have an entire ceiling to clean. It is just thick and nasty. Well, it is part of what needs to be done and I am actually enjoying it despite the fact that it is a nasty and dirty job. I love to see the results of a good cleaning. It is often amazing what you find underneath the grease. Tomorrow will be another full day of degreasing. I've got to get this place ready for walls to be going up in the next few days so our work is cut out for us. Exciting times.

Personal parables. Our lives are filled with them. As I was writing this little bit about the grease I realized that this is a personal parable for me. We just had conference and there was excellent instruction given. That instruction is like a strong degreaser and I need to make sure it is applied to the right walls within myself as there is certainly some grease that needs to be removed.

  1. John: just how much do you owe us for xanadu? And did you go to K-mart all by yourself? If so you are grounded for the next few days...you might just have to miss that trip to Las Vegas! MOM
