I think a favorite story from the Book of Mormon is that of the stripling warriors. I love the miracle of it. The preservation of life. The ascribing it to their faith. I love that they performed every word of command with exactness. Wow. I struggle with that myself. Wish I was more exact in my life, in my living of the gospel. I'm sure we all do. It certainly makes me grateful for a Savior and for his atonement.
Anyway, I was reading tonight and came across the following verses toward the end of Alma 58 referencing again the faithfulness of the stripling warriors.
Alma 58:39-40
39. And those sons of the people of Ammon, of whom I have so highly spoken, are with me in the city of Manti; and the Lord has supported them, yea, and kept them from falling by the sword, insomuch that even one soul has not been slain.
40. But behold, they have received many wounds; nevertheless they stand fast in that liberty wherewith God has made them free; and they are strict to remember the Lord their God from day to day; yea they do observe to keep his statutes, and his judgements, and his commandments continually; and their faith is strong in the prophecies concerning that which is to come.
I love that the lord has supported them and kept them from falling by the sword. They went through some difficult experiences, some pretty nasty things and yet they remained faithful to the Lord. I love that they were strict to remember the Lord their God from day to day.
Anyhow we had to read these verses a second time tonight. I love that, faith and trust in the Lord. I hope that in my times of difficulty, heartache and disappointment I can maintain that same level of trust in the Lord.
