Thanksgiving is perhaps my favorite holiday. I wonder if I said this same thing last year. I could easily go back and check but alas, what would be the point? I enjoy this holiday, I always have. I like the idea that everything can pause for a day and that day be set aside for expressing thanks for the things that we receive from our Father in Heaven. Truly there is much to be grateful for.
Family is a wonderful thing. My family - meaning myself and the kids. My family is such a blessing in my life. There are times that we struggle and certainly we have daily challenges to endure but I am grateful for that. I am grateful for tender and loving hearts. I hope that I can do a better job with them.
I am also grateful for my family, meaning my parents and my siblings. Likewise we have our struggles and our challenges. There has been much in life that we have passed through and continue to pass through. I am grateful for the strength that exists in the lives of the members of my family. I am grateful for faithful parents who have trusted in the Lord and lead their children in faith. No matter what the challenges have been they have not faltered. I am thankful for that strength. I am also grateful for righteous brothers and sisters who strive to be true and faithful.
Despite our best efforts we fall short - I should say despite my best efforts I fall short and do so in so many areas. Sometimes life is just hard and I fail. I fail often. For that I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father and His son who makes it possible for me to be forgiven or those failings. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is such a precious gift.
I am grateful for good people, friends who have been such a strength to me. Friends that have invited me into their homes. Friends who lifted me up in dark and difficult times. Friends who see past my short comings and failings and just love me for who I am. Indeed good people, friends are truly a reason for giving thanks.
