Super Flex and Rock Brain

I cannot be certain but there stands a chance that I may have written about these characters one time before.  If so it was just in passing.  Regardless, these are characters being used at South Elementary to help teach the kids how to handle different situations.  They were simply introducing them to some kids last year. I got a hand out at a parent meeting and we discussed them here at home briefly.  Well, it has become quite apparent to me that they have spent a little more time with these characters in the classroom this year.  It is a big part of Andy's life at the moment and we discuss just about every situation and look at how Super Flex would handle it and likewise how Rock Brain would.  Jack also finds himself getting into the discussion - sometimes because he is following along and wants to talk about it and other times because Andy is calling him out for being a Rock Brain.

Super Flex, as you may have guessed, has a very flexible brain.  When situations arise that are not ideal he is able to easily adapt and carry on without a problem or putting on a big show.  Rock Brain however finds it very difficult to adapt.  His mind is made up, it is solid as a rock.  When something changes he fights it and expects that every one will cater to him.  It has become an easy way to help us get through different situations.  Sometimes it works better than others.  Sometimes instead of rock brains we have gian boulder brains and we are not very receptive.  They are not afraid to call me out when I am being a Rock Brain.  I appreciate it.

And so we are trying to have flexible brains.  Trying to learn that life isn't over when things don't go exactly how we planned.  It isn't always easy to keep perspective, to maintain that flexible brain.  Old Super Flex and Rock Brain are definitely helpful characters that assist in our trying to learn how to handle situations that arise in our lives.  I wonder if Super Flex does yoga?
