The Final Hoorah

Rachel came to town today for Christmas.  The kids have been very excited to have their mom visit and per usual she is staying at the house with them.  People sometimes find that hard to accept that I would let my ex-wife stay at my house and I move out for how ever long.  To me it just isn't that big of a deal.  It really just kind of makes sense.  The kids are at home where they are comfortable and Rachel doesn't have to spend all of her money on a hotel allowing her the ability to do more things with the kids.  I think it is a great thing for them and I am happy to do it, happy that it makes the kids happy and happy that it likely makes things easier for them and Rachel.  It gives me a small break, a mini-vaca if you will.  That is pronounced vay-kay just in case you thought I failed to finish vacation.  I was just being fancy.

Well, knowing she was coming to town I determined I needed to take the opportunity to see the movie Here Comes the Boom whilst still in theaters.  The cheap theater anyway.  I talked to President Fawson about going and he decided it would be fun.  On Sunday we invited Kevin Bulloch to join in the fun as it was right before our quarterly PPI with President Sorensen.  He came as did Josh Maxwell and we had a little Elders Quorum Presidency movie extravaganza.  It was really just a group of friends going to a movie but seeing as we had a PPI right after we all wore church clothes.  We were only missing Darren Winn who is out cruising for Christmas.  I've heard nothing but good things about this movie and I have to agree.  It was fantastic, very funny and clean.  There was no swearing that I can remember off the top of my head.  The message was good and what else can I say?  Just a good movie.  It may be one of the rare movies that gets permanently added to my collection.  I highly recommend it.

So after said film we rolled over to the Stake Center where we not only met with President Sorensen but had President Schmutz invite us into his office to meet with the entire Stake Presidency.  The PPI was brief, really brief and pretty much consisted of President Fawson being released as the Elder's Quorum President and subsequently the entire presidency being released.  It was a good visit and it was a fun way to go out, the final hoorah.  I apparently don't know how to spell hoorah.  I don't see a replacement suggestion either so oh well.  I close with an expression of gratitude for the opportunity I had to serve.  The calling, though my least favorite in the church, came to me at a time when I needed it.  It helped me to find value in myself.  It helped my heart to heal.  I have loved serving with Ben Fawson.  He has been a great friend and leader.
