Last night I had a wild hair and started digging the trench I had been planning on to run some sprinklers. I used to have a great shovel that was built for that express purpose. It has somehow disappeared. After trying to dig the trench with a flat head shovel, a hoe, a pick axe and a little cultivator I finally broke down, went to the home depot and purchased a new trenching shovel. It was a solid $28 and change. I am so cheap that it was very hard for me to want to make that purchase but I did. It was dark when we got home from the store but I did a little digging and quite liked the shovel. It is nice to have the right tool for the job.
This morning I went out and finished the trench for one of the lines I am putting in. It went well and I would have loved to continue but I had to go to work and so the work was postponed until later. I decided to pick up some supplies for my simple system idea and, after a few other things that had to be taken care of I started installing the run. It was about 10 when I got started but why not install sprinklers by the light of a head lamp? It worked. I ran a test on the line with a little assistance from Jack and it looked good. I think my design is going to work. That is a relief. I was concerned about pressure but I believe we are okay there.
I find a certain amount of satisfaction working with pvc, glue, dirt, water and all the other things that come in to play with sprinklers. It can certainly be adventurous and, well, wet. Who doesn't like that?
