Scout Work To Do

I've got some work to do with Jack and his scouting.  We are a little over two months into the 11 year old scouts and he has earned his Tenderfoot badge.  That is great.  I am happy with that progress.  I am a little concerned because his leader, Kaden, is going to be released and the guy that replaced me a couple of months ago has not been consistent in attending.  We worked hard on getting this program running smooth and helping the boys to progress as they prepare to turn 12.  Right now there isn't a scout meeting scheduled for the next month.  There is the opportunity to go up and spend a night at camp when the deacons attend scout camp next month but that is it.  That makes me nervous.  I attended the meeting today so we could have two deep leadership for the boys.  Lindon, the other boy attending, is moving next week and that leaves Jack as the only one.  Late next month we will have another boy turn 11 but that is all we have for now.  Anyhow, I told Jack that he and I will be spending some time working on scouts together.  I want to help him get through his First Class by the time he turns 12 and moves up.  I'm fairly confident we can do it.  I will just have to schedule a regular scout meeting with Jack and work on the requirements with him.  Hopefully whoever replaces Kaden will pick it up and run with it and I won't feel like everything we worked towards just dropped off.  I hope I am not sounding negative here.  I really want things to be successful and want to see these boys progress.  We had some great success with the boys who came consistently because we were consistent.  I really hope it continues.  Anyway, Jack has left his mark on the patrol as they changed their name from the TARDIS patrol to the Wildcats.  The wildcats is in reference to F4F Wildcat fighter jet from World War II.  They have a new patrol flag and yell to go along with the name.  Very cool.
