Allegiance

Jack and I have been working on passing off his requirements for his Wolf badge for some time now and tonight he finished.  His cousins Jayson and Jaykob have also been hard at work and also finished today.  They all three needed to complete requirements with the Flag and Jay took them over to the Church and they all took turns raising the flag, folding the flag and they recited The Pledge of Allegiance and discussed a few other points on the flag.  Proud of Jack and the twins.  Pretty exciting stuff.  Jack will be moving on to Bears in the next few weeks with his birthday coming up.  We will be off on a new adventure.  He is a good boy.

Speaking of The Pledge of Allegiance.  I was at the school this morning dropping off Andy when someone lead the school in the Pledge over the PA system.  This is what they recited: "I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag".  I waited for more.  Nothing came.  How embarrassing is that?  We have reached a level in our Country where our Pledge of Allegiance has turned into that?  Why?  Why do we allow something like this to happen?  Who is it that finds so much offense in a Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag, our Country that we need to strip down the pledge to that?  I say those who are offended need to leave.  If you don't want to say it then don't but please, don't think you have the right to take away my right or the right of millions of Americans who love our Country to express our Allegiance to it.  Where are we America?

It makes me even more grateful for the experience of 3 boys today who earned their Wolf badge, yes 3 boys and many more just like them who participate in an organization that does not cave to the demands of the few.  An organization that teaches what it means to Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it Stands, One Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
