Alone Time

The boys sometimes get in fights when someone walks into the room when they are having what they call their alone time.  Alone time for them means sitting in their room or my room with the kindle and watching a cartoon on Netflix or some video about planes or trains.  Whatever it is they do not like to share the video with each other.  Sharing violates the very principle alone time is founded upon.  I have been barked at more than once for disturbing alone time. It is really unfortunate.  I'm pretty sure I've forgotten what alone time is.  You don't really get that option when your a parent and in my case a single dad.  Sometimes late at night when I've got the kids in bed and I have not yet retired I get some alone time. It is the time when I sit and write this blog.  It is nice to just have a moment to yourself, no kids fighting about alone time, just peace and quiet and an opportunity to ponder things.  I am grateful for that opportunity to relax and reset.
