IEP for Jack

Today we had our first IEP at Cedar Middle School.  We've done 6 prior IEP's for Jack, once in Florida and then every year at South Elementary in Cedar.  They are always interesting.  It was fun to sit there and watch Jack communicate with all of these adults in the room including the Principal, the Special Ed teacher, two of his teachers and another social specialist that works at the school.  We set some goals for this year and Jack feels good about them.  I feel good about them. We discussed some services that are included in the IEP that will help Jack to be successful.  I believe he will be successful.  I think it has been a bit of a rough transition moving up to middle school but it is comforting to see the love these people have for him.  I certainly don't get the feeling that he is 'just another student' and that makes me feel good as a parent.  I feel like I can send him with confidence that he is in good hands when he goes to school.  We've got some work to do this year and will do our best to make it a great one.
