Feeding the Missionaries

When you are a single dad there are not many opportunities to do things like feed the missionaries.  I say that because they typically send the sign up sheet for missionary meals around the relief society.  I have never actually seen a sign up sheet.  In Florida we had the missionaries over all the time for dinner. It was wonderful. We loved having them in our home. We had two sets of missionaries in the Highlands ward and had many opportunities.  Here we have one set of missionaries for our entire Stake and it is a rather large Stake.  So I think our Ward gets the opportunity one week out of every couple of months.  It's no wonder I've never seen a sign up sheet.  What was my surprise Sunday afternoon when the Brother Bishop, our Ward Mission Leader came to our door and asked if we would like to feed the missionaries. Absolutely! It was schedule for this evening.  I met these Elders a couple of weeks ago when they were eating at the Brick House. They loved it. I made the meal easy on myself and cooked them up some burgers and fries and also brought home one of my Nutella pies for dessert.  They loved it.  The kids quite enjoyed having them here as well.  That to me is the icing on the cake, having the missionaries around my kids. I always loved that when I was a kid and it made me happy to see them enjoy the missionaries.
