Good Stuff

I had a rough night last night and am not feeling all that well.  Caught a little something.  Wouldn't you know it - right after I seem to have shaken that lingering cough I am now right back in it.  Oh, not the funnest, I am working to shake it quickly.  That's right - loads of Vick's on the schedule.

So I got home tonight and enjoyed the evening with the kids.  Once again the requested dish for dinner was Mac and Cheese - some faithful readers probably thought Top Ramen was the call there but no, it is the Mac and Cheese.  None for Natty - she opted for a large bowl of Cocoa Pops and string cheese.  I know, extreme nutrition.  I did some cleaning and then hung out with the kids on the couch and watched the Polar Express.  Well, they watched the Polar Express and banged me up some while I passed out there with them.  It was a good little power nap.

I have to say that I had a few tender moments with Jack tonight as we discussed a letter he wrote to his mom and dad and also shared a letter that Santa wrote to him.  It is a joy to have these moments and to realize how wonderful and good your children are.  We also gathered around the computer and watched a little cartoon depiction of an experience President Heber J. Grant had growing up.  I am sure many know this story.  Anyhow, you can find it on LDS.org titled The Coat: A True Story of Charity.  If I were a bit more savvy on the tech side I would embed it here but I am not so...

Anyhow, we watched the video.  It is simple but it tells the story beautifully without words.  The kids got it.  They felt it.  It was a great little two minute moment.  Well, we watched it a couple of times and we discussed it as well.  I love that kind of stuff and the spirit that we have in the home.  We went on to watch a few more messages.  These are good moments.  Isn't it wonderful that there is good stuff out there that we can tune into?  I think so.  You know, it was an evening of simple things that had the right spirit and it was wonderful.
