I heard a friend on the radio the other day. I say friend because I like to consider most people as friends. He is a BNI member that I met over a year ago and a nice guy. I've seen him around town at a few different things and let me just get to the point. He has a once a month radio show. I didn't know this until I heard him on the radio Tuesday. He was talking about pressing forward regardless of what we are being told about the economy. We have to stop sitting and watching and have to begin moving. I appreciate what he was talking about. It isn't doing the economy any good to have things freeze while people fear a forecast. Funny, I write fear and immediately thought about Zig Ziegler and his accronym for fear: False Evidence Appearing Real. I believe that this is applicable to some of the challenges of the economy.
People are reluctant to take chance right now. I can understand that but also feel like not taking chances is hurting. We took a chance on this business. It has not been a piece of cake and we have had some hurdles to get over for certain. We are however pressing forward. We are taking a chance and exercising faith. There have been many blessings as a result and we are seeing something grow.
I met a guy tonight, Scott from Sonny Boy's. I saw him in Weal-Mart, introduced myself to him and we talked for a bit. The Little Brick House and Sonny Boy's were both up for best new business for this year. Sonny Boy's beat us. We talked about that, I congratulated him. It was a good visit and we talked about collaborating on some things. I think it could be a win/win relationship. Anyhow, I respect what he has done. I respect the fact that he took a chance in the economy we are living in. Anyhow, good visit.
When it comes to the economy I don't claim to be an expert. Oh, far from it. There are a lot of things that don't help it and my belief is that too much government regulation plays a part in that. There is a need for people to take a chance. Some may be willing right up to the point where they hit the red tape of government and then just figure it not worth the effort. One of our least favorite things is to hear that someone passed and ordinance. Hello more fees and more regulation. Who really wants to subject themselves to that?
Well, I don't know. I just make sandwiches. I do believe however that pressing forward, regardless of what the experts say, is essential. Sometimes it is that little step of faith that makes all the difference in the world.
