Tree

Got hit with a snow storm last night and so we were running early with the shovels. Natty actually got started first.  Her enthusiasm for shoveling didn't last long - that was okay.  She did good with what she covered.  Jack had plenty of enthusiasm and was in for the long haul.  Andy, well, his was short lived as well.  After shoveling here we headed over the the LBH.  Natty and Andy stayed home while Jack and I shoveled like crazy.  The parking lot is not that big but it sure seems rather large when you are shoveling snow.  It was sure fun to be out there working with him and enjoying ourselves.

He went inside a little earlier then I and Mrs. Coonan pulled in while I was finishing up.  We chatted out in the parking lot and then went inside.  She saw Jack and went over to talk to him for a bit.  Dave was there working and I introduced him to Mrs. Coonan as Jessie because I had told him the story.  He laughed and said that Jack saw her in the parking lot when she pulled in and said 'that's Mrs. Coonan but I call her Jessie'.  He went on to show Mrs. Coonan around and to shop with her for a bit.  I am grateful for their relationship.  She is a fantastic teacher and I think we were very blessed to end up at South Elementary with her.  It has been a great thing for Jack and our family.

We had another catering job this morning and we got that taken care of.  Amy and I went and delivered then I came back and worked for a bit on the Hall Tree that we got yesterday from Kristin Mabb.  It was damaged in their move 6 months ago and with this latest move she didn't have room for it any longer.  She was either going to donate it to DI or we could have it.  It has a few problems and I am hoping that I corrected most of it.  I created a couple others with nails that were less than agreeable but I can fix that.  It is a fun project that should be relatively quick to finish.  I have to hit it still and try to antique it out some.  I am a fan of the hall tree.

Also set to work on the table that we bought from the Mabbs 6 months ago.  I had cleared out the broken tile top but it has been sitting and waiting.  I haven't really thought about it or focused on it until now.  We have a need now so priorities and been adjusted some on it.  I had a thought today on using cedar fencing to finish it.  I told Dave and funny enough he had the same thought.  I picked up the wood, have now cut it out and have some sanding to do.  I think it will look very good when it is done - well that is what I am telling myself anyway.  Got a lot of sanding to do now.

Tonight we put away the Halloween stuff and set up the Christmas.  The living room is a little tighter in this house but we managed to set it up in front of the window.  The boys took on a majority of the ornaments and I worked on some other decor.  Natty helped with some and together we tried to balance the tree.  It is done, it looks good.  The kids are happy as can be and are excited for Christmas.  Their happiness and excitement is part of the Joy of Christmas for me.
