Nat Band

I should take a moment to email myself some pictures from Natalie's Band Concert tonight.  Let me clarify - that is not Natalie's Band, rather Natalie, who takes bank at Cedar Middle, was in the 6th grade Band Concert this evening.  They actually did very well considering these kids have only been playing for 3 months.  I was impressed.

As a parent it is neat to see your child develop their talents.  I was nervous when Natalie decided to join band.  It has been wonderful to see her progress.  She is doing a great job.  I was never a band kind of a guy.  I was more focused on art - and PE of course.  I remember when Pete started taking band and how much he enjoyed it.  I thought it was cool.  Jay also joined the band.  What happened to me?  I never gave it much thought.  I didn't enjoy piano lessons and figured it was bound to be more of the same.  Pass.

Funny how on my mission I looked back on that piano decision and wished I would have stuck with it.  I think that music is a very important part of developing and growing.  I like it and I am happy that Natalie is a part of the band.  It was a fun little concert tonight and the boys seemed to enjoy it well enough.  Also had ma out.  She actually brought the boys.  Much thanks ma.

*Update on Billy the Loon from last nights post.  Turns out that Billy wasn't much of a loon at all.  He was or is actually an eared grebe. Thousands took a dive here in Cedar when that snow storm from a couple days ago caught up to them. I ended up taking Billy with me and called the Department of Wildlife.  They have been collecting the birds all over the city and were taking them down to Saint George to release.  They were taking them to one of the lakes down there.  Turns out they can only take off in flight from the water.  Without water they are a rather clumsy bird.   Adventures in wild animal babysitting is over.  At least for now...
