Routing

A few hours ago I used a rather fascinating tool.  Look, I am a fan of power tools and I love to build things.  The shelves from last year, the boxes, the furniture restoration or shabby chic-ing (I don't know how to spell that), it is all a lot of fun.  I had redone a table top recently and had some extra wood that was cut down.  I had to do something with it.

Well, before we get much further into that I must make mention that it is the 23rd of December and I have not come up with a gift for the folks.  I had a few minutes tonight and was in the basement of the LBH and started looking at this wood and thinking about what I could do.  I had a few thoughts and then decided to try a few things.

I needed to fire up the router.  We got the thing over a year ago and I have yet to fire it up.  The time to fire it up was upon us and I made it happen.  That machine rocks!  It is amazing what a little power and a sharp edge can do to a chunk of wood.  I knocked out a few pieces of wood and it was great.  I love what you can do to a piece of wood.  It takes a plain piece and just gives it a little something special.

You know, that is kind of how the spirit is in our lives.  By ourselves we may just be a plain piece of wood.  With the Spirit as our companion or guide those rough corners of ourselves can be made smooth.
