Jerusalem Supper

When I think about the holidays and family traditions I usually don't think about the Jerusalem Supper.  This is most likely because I didn't continue on with this tradition in my own home.  Tonight however we gathered at the folks for our monthly family meal.  On the menu, Jerusalem Supper.

Sara had been working with the kids during the week and Andy was set to be Joseph, Jack was geared up to be the Donkey and Natty was an Angel.  When we got home from church we started to gear up for the event.  First on the list - Josephs beard.

We started off with a little goatie for Andy.  What a stud.

We eventually got the entire beard up but he was having a hard time channeling his inner Joseph.  The beard wasn't working for him so we ended up cleaning it off of his face.  I got him all dressed up with his robe, hood, sandles and walking stick and then he suddendly wanted the beard so we went for it once again.

Natty was looking on in the bathroom while I was drawing on the beard and she decided to play around with the camera some.  She snapped this shot of herself.  I thought it was a cute pic and decided to add it tonight.  Cute girl.

I wanted to get a snap of Andy in his outfit and had a moment when he was in the kitchen.  He looks pretty sharp and I love Tommy in the background with his trousers falling down.  How about that beard? That is some make up artist.

Here is Jack as the Donkey along side Andy as Joseph.  Anna is on Jacks back but unfortunately I didn't have the angle on this pic to catch her.  Then on all the other pics I don't have a shot of Andy.  Anyhow, here is Andy and Jack and then here is another with Joseph leading the Donkey and Mary.

Finally a shot of the crew or most of the crew anyway, wait, perhaps I should say cast.  Sara was at the camera so she is not pictured in this.  It was a fun evening. As the story was being told and the Angel visited shepherds and told them of the babe wrapped in swadling clothes laying in a manger we suddenly heard a donkey hee-haw as he lay in the stable at the side of Mary and Jesus.  Jack is a natural. He can play a donkey with the best of em.  He totally sold it.

Well, all seemed to have an enjoyable time.  The classic Jerusalem supper.  What a fantastic time of year and a fun way to share in the nativity as a family.
